Changing the Lens
(2020 – 2021)

A Feminist Reinterpretation and Critique of Predominant Economic Thought

In this research co-authored with Ms. Sanika Sawant was one of the six teams selected to be presented at the National level Economics Seminar held on 27th of February 2021 which was organized online by the Department of Economics, St. Xavier’s College. The national round had participants from colleges across India. At the national level seminar, the paper was one of the two winning research papers in the competition. Ergo, the paper was selected and published in the Annual Economics Departmental Journal of St. Xavier’s College, “Arthniti” released in March 2021.

The Health Crisis, An Unlikely Invitation To Autocracy And The People

A research article which examines the erosion of democratic values and traditions in the backdrop of the pandemic. The research is an attempt to determine whether the unexpected health was a catalyst in the acceleration of anti-democratic trends in varied nations. It was selected for publication by the editorial team of the St. Xavier’s College, Sociology & Anthropology Department, in its Magazine ‘Eidos’ published on the theme ‘Rethinking Structure’.

A Poetic Reflection

A Jobless Tomorrow

In this research co-authored with Ms. Sanika Sawant, Jui and her co-author turn to the exponential growth of technology and its phenomenal fluctuations. With artificial intelligence and robotics, bringing in radical changes in economic activities and future jobs. The disruption caused is extremely crucial and it is imperative to be balanced with proper management.  Jui and Sanika had relied on the theoretical model created by Huang, Hu and Dong to analyze the subject.  This research paper was presented at the Economics Seminar held at Khandala, Maharashtra by the St. Xavier’s College. This research paper was awarded the A+ Grade by the Jury. The paper was selected and published in the Annual Economics Departmental Journal of St. Xavier’s College, “Arthniti” (ISSN - 2277-1344)

Jui along with her co-author Ms. Vaishnavi Dhas was selected as a contributor for “Samvad” the Journal of the Department of Political Science, St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, which published their research paper on rise of populism and its repercussions on environment and policy making. People and Planet: Saving the Symbiosis was the theme of the journal.

Born for a life of Crime : Are Criminals born or made

 

Jui’s research tracing the co-relation between perinatal factors and disposition to violent and anti-social behavior was selected for publication in “Uncommon Sense” the Journal of the Department of Psychology, St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. This research which included important case studies elaborated the necessity to comprehend the influence of extraneous factors on human behavior.

Recalling a persona : Character building through memory.

 

The theme of the Department of English in its publication “Ithaka” in the sesquicentennial year of the St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai was “Memory”. Jui in her research paper traced the creation and development of a character, in fiction, through the eyes and recollections of other characters, about the former. Daphne du Maurier and Kazuo Ishiguro’s use of the tool of memory to sculpt a character and weave the character through the narrative of recollections, formed the pivotal core of this research.
